This cozy and comfortable 1960's beach front bungalow has been lovingly refreshed with most modern amenities while maintaining the serene bungalow vibe for your enjoyment. As soon as you walk up to the front door and unlock the intelligent lock with your personal code, you enter into "Serenity" and see the handsome Atlantic beckoning you. Classic board and batten walls and refinished original tongue and groove Southern pine floors fill the bungalow with a nod toward a more simple and laid back time. Just ideal to appreciate your beach and ocean get-away. The sand and waves are only a few steps from the covered and gated porch.

Serenity Oceanside is located at roughly mile post 2.5 on the beach road. The bungalow is close to many eateries, shopping and family fun activities, many within walking/cycling distance. This location is also great for a couples only getaway, girls or guys get-away to spend time on the beach, shop, golf or fish.

Serenity Oceanside will ideally accommodate up to seven in three bedrooms. Two queen bedrooms includes one ocean-front and one semi-oceanfront, also with great ocean vistas. Each of these rooms also has ceiling fans. The third bedroom has a pyramid bunk bed, that can sleep up to three with an oscillating floor fan. All bedrooms are appointed with intelligent TVs. Sail off to sleep on premium beds and pillows, while listening to the surf.

Whip up your favorite meal or catch of the day with GE appliances and pretty Maui Quartz countertops and granite sink in the well-equipped kitchen. You won't miss a min. of the waves, during meal prep and clean up, as the kitchen has handsome vistas of the beach.

Savor your morning coffee on the covered porch overlooking the Atlantic. Take a leisurely walk on the beach to watch the sun rise, pelicans fly overhead and dolphin and fish play in the waves. Unwind and rejuvenate at Serenity Oceanside.

Relish your time off the beach in the comfortably furnished open living room with cozy slip covered furnishings, sizable flat screen TV, bar area, board games and books. Keep cool with central air and ceiling and floor fans in all bedrooms. Appreciate your meals at a rustic white washed pine dining table overlooking the Atlantic or at the picnic table on the back porch. You just can't get closer to the sights, sounds and salty air of the beach than at Serenity Oceanside Cottage.

Don't let one-bathroom home dissuade you from this cozy bungalow. Enjoy the completely modernized bathroom, which includes a ship-lap shower while gazing at the waves roll in or savor the outside private shower with hot and cold water with sounds of the surf just over the dune line.

Conclude your day with a beverage and stroll outside to the front gated deck to watch the lavish colors of the OBX sunsets. Let your gaze drift to the nighttime sky to see twinkling stars and planets overhead. A walk on the nighttime beach beckons where ghost crabbing is always a favorite with the kids!

For the snorkeling aficionados, check out the British Steamer Mountaineer Wreck also known as the Wink's Wreck. It was stranded December 25th, 1852 and is located 100 yards offshore and roughly 100 yards South of the bungalow. It's estimated at a depth of 10 to 30 feet. It's a local favorite and our son loves to dive "snorkel" the wreck! Google for Wink's Wreck or Kitty Hawk Mountaineer Steamer Wreck for more info.

Serenity Oceanside is located within walking distance to Ocean Boulevard Bistro & Martini Bar (Wedding Wire 2019 Couples' Choice Award Winner) serving a delicious nightly menu, including vegetarian options and stop by their fabulous Martini Bar. If eating the best burger on the beach in flip flops is on your bucket list, you are in luck and it's also within walking distance! Try Art's Place, featured in "Our State" magazine and winning Finest Burger on the Beach, they serve a killer homemade breakfast, lunch and dinner. Enjoy casual food and beverages on their "sway" bar with impressive expansive vistas of the Atlantic and live music in their "backyard".

Slow down and enjoy Serenity Oceanside and all that the OBX has to offer. From shelling, fishing, soaking up the sun, surfing, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, cycling, hiking in our maritime forests to taking a tour to see wild horses run complimentary on the beaches....a week will fly by but you will be making memories that will last a lifetime.

The bungalow has parking for two cars and is dog friendly. The remodeled bungalow includes an indoor washer and dryer for your convenience, updated bathroom with ship-lap shower and kitchen appliances. The bungalow does not have a dishwasher, but clean up will be a breeze in the granite sink with Maui Quartz countertops overlooking the sand and waves. Things To Do:
If you want to discover all that the OBX has to offer, Serenity Oceanside, located in Kitty Hawk, is just a short drive to Duck, Kill Devil Hills, and Nags Head. You'll find many local eateries, stores with that ideal souvenir, as well as, putt-putt golf and the always fun H2OBX Water Park. And what would summer be without ice cream....John's Drive-in is another OBX staple, just a short bicycle ride down the road from the bungalow. Owned and operated by the same OBX family, it is in its 46th year, and has an phenomenal menu and complimentary "puppy" cups if you bring Fido!

The beach, that outstanding merging of ocean and sand that seems so ideal will always be the draw, but there is another side to this strip of sand, another world of beauty and wonder waiting for the slightly adventurous. Don't forget to discover the four protected maritime forests located sound-side. Although they seem to be a world apart from the seashore, they are heavily forested but with painless trails, and they call out to be explored. A photographer's delight.

Take a short drive to Kill Devil Hills (about 5 miles from the bungalow) and discover the Wright Brothers National Memorial. Wind, sand, and a dream of flight brought Wilbur and Orville Wright to Kitty Hawk, North Carolina where, after four years of scientific experimentation, they achieved the first successful airplane flights on December 17, 1903 and taught the world to fly!

In Nags Head, about 10 miles from the bungalow, you'll find the tallest living sand dune on the Atlantic coast and is a premier location for kites, sightseeing and sunsets, with a view arcing from the ocean to Roanoke Sound. A visitor center with museum and 360-foot boardwalk with exhibits explain the dune’s ecology and are a gradual entry to the massive dune field. Sandboarding is welcome with permit and hang-gliding is available through a vendor. Shoes and sun protection are recommended.

A binder in the bungalow will provide additional information on things to do.

Strategies for getting the perfect Kitty Hawk vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in the Kitty Hawk area. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Kitty Hawk visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

How to select the perfect rental in the Kitty Hawk area:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. SERENITY AWAITS...AWESOME Reviews-1960's Cozy Ocean-Front and Fido Friendly too! has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Kitty Hawk attraction you simply love, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Tips for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
