Tricks and tips to get the best Kitty Hawk rental experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kitty Hawk area visitors guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and pick the perfect Kitty Hawk rental home:
- Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. NEW! Salty Sally's - Walk to the beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Kitty Hawk attraction you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of problems.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your visit, note any problem areas upon check in. text the property manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
