Tricks and tips to get the perfect Kitty Hawk rental home experience:
Sticking to your budget:
- Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kitty Hawk area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the perfect rental home:
- Choose dates and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Sunrise to Sunset - Steps From the Ocean! Hot Tub! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kitty Hawk rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. If not, contact the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
Tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your stay, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the property manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
