Strategies to get the perfect Kitty Hawk vacation property experience:
When to reserve a Kitty Hawk rental & When to go:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Kitty Hawk area. Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Kitty Hawk area travel guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First and foremost, have your family select a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Sunrise to Sunset - Steps From the Ocean! Hot Tub! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- If there's a certain Kitty Hawk attraction you love, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
During your stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
