Tips to get the perfect Kitty Hawk vacation rental experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- In the Kitty Hawk area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Summer is high season in Kitty Hawk. To get the best value, shift your family's Kitty Hawk vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Kitty Hawk visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a group leader, select your dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Saltaire Cottages 3: 2BR Steps to Private Beach Access Screened Porch Pool has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- During arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
