Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Kitty Hawk. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Kitty Hawk visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Begin by choosing your trip dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. A \"Peace\" of Paradise- walk to beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kitty Hawk vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what is best for your vacation group.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
