How to find the best Kitty Hawk vacation rental experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Reserve your rental home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Kitty Hawk visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.
Narrow your Search:
- Start by having your family commit to a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. A Family beach house has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your group.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- At Check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
