Tips and Tricks to get the very best rental home experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- To get the most suitable rental home within budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many management companies supply Kitty Hawk area travel guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and choosing your prefect Kitty Hawk rental:
- Choose your vacation week and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Saltaire Cottage 11: 3BR Steps to Private Beach Access Screened Porch Pool has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property owner before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
More considerations for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of concerns.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
