How to book the best Kitty Hawk vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Kitty Hawk area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Reserve your vacation home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kitty Hawk area visitors guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by having your group select the best dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Everyone Needs Some Vitamin Sea has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kitty Hawk rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation family.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few problems.
- Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
