Tips to get the best Kitty Hawk vacation rental experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- Book your vacation home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Kitty Hawk area visitor guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose and book a perfect Kitty Hawk rental home:
- To start, have your family commit to dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Everyone Needs Some Vitamin Sea has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a particular Kitty Hawk attraction you crave, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or could be applied to your agreement.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
