Kitty Hawk rental home tips:
Find your best deal:
- June, July, and August are high season in Kitty Hawk. To book the best vacation home within budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Kitty Hawk restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Kitty Hawk visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain deals for local shops and restaurants.
Planning and choosing a perfect Kitty Hawk vacation home:
- First, have your group choose dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Gorgeous pet-friendly soundside Kitty Hawk home w\/ pool & hot tub! has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. Otherwise, email the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
