Getting the best Kitty Hawk rental experience:
When to visit Kitty Hawk & When to reserve a Kitty Hawk rental home:
- In the Kitty Hawk area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Kitty Hawk. Reserve your vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kitty Hawk area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First and foremost, have your group decide on vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Canal front, Modern Tiny House! Bike to Beach! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your trip.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Advice for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to stimulate future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
