Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation home experience:

When to book a Kitty Hawk rental home & When to go:

  • Summer months are high season in the Kitty Hawk area. To get the best value, try changing your family's Kitty Hawk vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning and picking yourvacation home:

  • Start by choosing trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Blue Horizon
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If not, contact the host before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your family.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.

Tips to have a fantastic stay:

  • Add the host's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. text the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many issues.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
