Guests adore our refreshed and updated Nantucket style beach bungalow! Come savor a clean, carefully decorated, vacation get-a-way. Appreciate preparing a dinner of local seafood in the refreshed kitchen and eat out on our screened in porch. Our home is best suited for families or two couples.
We are just blocks from the beach and 1.7 miles from the Sanderling Inn and only 2.2 miles from the village of Duck, NC. A great location for weddings, honeymoons, and family get-togethers, our OBX beaches were rated #1 by US Travel.
To make your visit more pleasant, we recommend renting Sunday to Sunday during the busy summer season, to avoid the worst of the change over gridlock. Although our listing does allow 5 nighttime stays, these work best in the fall season. We rent weekend to weekend during the high season of June through Labor Day. So arriving on Saturday will mean a departure date of Saturday or Sunday.
A damage deposit is not required but $78 Insurance policy is required.
Bedroom Details
The home can sleep 7-8 comfortably in 3 bedrooms. One private bedroom with a queen bed is on the main floor with a bathroom that includes a tub / shower. The second private bedroom with a queen bed ( and rollaway single) is upstairs and has a shared bathroom with the kids's room. The kids's room has a bunk bed with a double bed on the bottom and single bed on top. Please note that you must walk through the kids's bedroom to access the other upstairs bedroom. The kids's room is also open to the stairs which has a door at the bottom. The upstairs bathroom has a tub with a shower.

Bugs
We use a professional service to treat the home inside and out with insect specific spray. This service comes quarterly including in the summer. While our bungalow is sealed like other homes, our porches are not. We ask that guests keep lights off when not in use to reduce attracting insects. While we clean the exterior of the home throughout the summer we cannot guarantee a bug complimentary / spider complimentary outside experience.

Please respect our no-smoking policy for the bungalow. You may smoke on the outside porches. Parties are not allowed in the bungalow or on the property.
Check in
Once you have paid in full, we will send the address and passcode to enter the home upon arrival. The maid has until 4 PM to clean the home but is usually done between noon to 1 PM. You can park at the home if you arrive early but do not enter until the maid has left the home. Please do not put your food in the refrig. early, before the maid has left, as the maid cleans the refrigerator after each stay.
Weather
The water level is rising on the OBX due to Global Warming. Water may pool in the community during a heavy rain. If heavy rain is forecast for your stay, we recommend bringing rain boots, at least for kids, to use to walk to the beach.

Tricks and tips to get the best Kitty Hawk vacation property experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- Summer is high season in Kitty Hawk. To find the most suitable rental home within budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Kitty Hawk restaurants, tours, and activities.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Kitty Hawk visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Finding the best rental home in Kitty Hawk:
- Choose your vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Well Kept \/ Well Loved Cottage - 3 Minutes from Beach! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
