Tips and Tricks to get the best Kitty Hawk vacation home experience:
When to book a Kitty Hawk rental & When to go:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best rental home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Finding the perfect rental:
- Select your vacation dates and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Saltaire Cottages 5: 2BR Steps to Private Beach Access Screen Porch Pool has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kitty Hawk rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the property manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
