Planning a migration to the Outer Banks? Lead your flock to Swallow's Nest, a newly refreshed oceanside home in Kitty Hawk located just two tons back from the shining Atlantic Ocean. Getting to the beach will be a breeze using the Starfish Lane public access, just 450 feet from the home.
After a day of sun, sand and surf, come home and admire the ocean vistas from both the rooftop deck and top-level great room. An open-concept layout encourages quality time spent together even when preparing meals in the kitchen. The chef in the family will savor the roomy layout, quartz countertops and stainless steel appliances. Serve dinner at the huge dining table with seating for ten, or al fresco at the picnic table on the ocean-facing covered deck. Practical and beach-friendly LVP floor runs throughout this dog-friendly home, ideal for sandy feet and paws returning from the beach. Check-in and check-out will be a breeze using the cargo lift to send bags and groceries to and from the upper levels. Two electric fireplaces are available year round with or without heat (please unplug when not in use).
Four bedrooms and three full baths will comfortably accommodate family and friends, and a den on the mid-level can be used as a second living area or media room. It leads out to a covered deck with bubbly hot tub where you can take a calming soak while appreciating the exhilarating coastal breeze. The ground level rec room is furnished with a pool table for around-the-clock indoor entertainment.
Located in Milepost 3.5 in Kitty Hawk, Swallow's Nest is within walking distance to multiple fashionable eateries including Jimmy's Seafood Buffet and Shipwreck's Taphouse & Grille.

Tips to get the best rental experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Kitty Hawk vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kitty Hawk area visitors guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Finding the perfect rental in the Kitty Hawk area:
- Select vacation week and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Swallow's Nest: Ocean Views
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- If there's a specific Kitty Hawk attraction you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many difficulties.
- Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
