Kitty Hawk vacation rental booking tips:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning and choosing yourrental home:

  • Start by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Swallow's Nest: Ocean Views

  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.

Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your contract.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.

Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective.
