Rental home tips:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in the Kitty Hawk area. Booking your Kitty Hawk vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many management companies supply Kitty Hawk area visitors guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing the best vacation home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Handicap Entrance -one level-Ships Watch, Duck NC has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

More considerations for your visit:

  • We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Call the host right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
