How to find the best Kitty Hawk vacation home experience:
When to visit Kitty Hawk & When to reserve a rental home:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Kitty Hawk. To book the largest rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Kitty Hawk restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Kitty Hawk visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- To start, have your family commit to date ranges and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Oceanfront home in Duck has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Kitty Hawk destination you long to visit, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Have a fantastic stay:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
