Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Kitty Hawk rental home:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the best rental home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kitty Hawk area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- To start, have your family decide on a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Oceanfront home in Duck has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before you book the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Kitty Hawk beach you love, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Know before you go:
- Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
