Vacation rental booking tips:
How to get the best value:
- Booking your Kitty Hawk vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- In the Kitty Hawk area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Kitty Hawk visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning and picking your prefectrental home:
- To start, have your family decide on date ranges and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Pet Friendly, Ocean Views, Pool & Hot Tub! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
During your stay:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
