Rental home booking tips and tricks:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kitty Hawk area visitors guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting the best rental in the Kitty Hawk area:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Duck, NC Fully Remodeled Beach House, Perfect for families & groups of adults has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual Kitty Hawk beach you are enamored with, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure that damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the host right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
