How to find the best Kitty Hawk rental home experience:
When to visit Kitty Hawk & When to reserve a Kitty Hawk rental home:
- Summer is high season in Kitty Hawk. Booking in Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many management companies supply Kitty Hawk area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. The Duck Social has 7 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If not, email the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
