Update for 2025: Kitchen remodel - photos coming this Spring! The Blue Pelican is a freshly remodeled semi-oceanfront townhome located in the Sea Dunes community. Located right across from the beach, Sea Dunes is just steps away from the shining Atlantic Ocean. Spend the entire day on the beach or comfortably transition back and forth from the community pool. Guests will also have access to tennis, pickleball and basketball courts. Inside the clubhouse, you'll find a racquetball/walleyball court, game tables and even an exercise room. This two-bedroom unit is ideal for couples or modest families looking for convenient access to the beach and on-site amenities. Animals are welcome, so your furry companions can join you on the dog-friendly beaches of Kitty Hawk. Recent updates include all new paint, furnishings and LVP floor throughout - ideal for sandy feet and paws. Appreciate an unobstructed ocean view and around-the-clock sun on the southeast-facing deck off the top-level living area. Downstairs, a second deck is located off the primary bedroom. Imagine waking up and opening your door to the sound of the waves and a salty ocean breeze. Both bedrooms include king beds and ensuite baths for plenty of space and privacy. Grab lunch or dinner (or both!) at Black Pelican Oceanfront Restaurant, just a three-min. walk away. Other close by eateries include Hurricane Mo's, Longboards Island Grille, Barefoot Bernie's and Stack'em High Pancakes. Can’t stay an entire week? The Blue Pelican is available for short stays and offers flexible arrival/departure options for those who like to plan ahead. In-season partial week stays (three-nighttime minimum) can be reserved months in advance, and guests can choose any day of the week for check-in and check-out. Family Pets allowed. No smoking/vaping.

Kitty Hawk vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Get the best rental home value:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Kitty Hawk area. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Kitty Hawk visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Finding the best vacation home in Kitty Hawk:
- Choose dates and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. The Blue Pelican: Semi-Oceanfront
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- If there's a particular Kitty Hawk beach you love, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
