Tips and Tricks to get the best Kitty Hawk vacation property experience:
When to visit Kitty Hawk & When to book:
- Summer time is high season in the Kitty Hawk area. To book the most suitable rental home for your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Kitty Hawk area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectrental:
- To start, have your group select dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Corner Townhome with beautiful Atlantic views has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is optimal for your trip.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges applied to your agreement.
Know before you go:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
