Rental booking tips and tricks:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • Reserve your Kitty Hawk rental property in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • In the Kitty Hawk area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Some property management companies offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Kitty Hawk area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and choosing the rightrental home:

  • Select your dates and budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Corner Townhome with beautiful Atlantic views has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • If there's an individual Kitty Hawk beach you simply love, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.

Know before you go:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the rental manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
