Tips to get the best rental home experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Kitty Hawk area. To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Kitty Hawk area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Condo located in Barrier Island Station Duck Resort Unit 505B has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kitty Hawk vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before booking the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
