How to get the best vacation property experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- To find the most suitable rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Kitty Hawk attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Kitty Hawk visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and pick yourvacation home:
- Start by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Shabedge \/ Ships Watch in Duck, NC has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property manager before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your family.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
- If there's a specific Kitty Hawk destination you love, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Advice for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
