Strategies for getting the best vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • To book the most suitable rental home for your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Kitty Hawk restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kitty Hawk area visitor guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning and choosing your prefect Kitty Hawk vacation home:

  • Select vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Saltaire Cottages 9: 2BR Steps to Private Beach Access Screened Porch Pool has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the host before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your family.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.

Tips for a wonderful stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
