How to book the best Kitty Hawk rental home experience:
When to go & When to reserve a rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Kitty Hawk. To book the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Kitty Hawk restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kitty Hawk area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and picking a perfect Kitty Hawk vacation home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Saltaire Cottage 10: 2BR Steps to Private Beach Access Screened Porch Pool has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
