The space
This original OBX classic, constructed in the 50's, is the ideal mixture of historic and modern design! Less than a dozen of these original Southern Shores flat-top homes constructed by Frank Stick remain. This home is on the Historic Register and has been featured in magazines, editorials, and flat-top tours for years. The new owners have given the home a major facelift and a second life (hence the name Seaquel) while keeping the vintage feel throughout. Seaquel is located on a peaceful street centrally located in Southern Shores, just mins. from Kitty Hawk to the South and Duck to the North.

The unique and bespoke open concept floor plan welcomes you through an inviting and bright sitting room ideal for coffee, with vintage double pane interior windows and the original 1950's showcase floor. The great room awaits, ready to welcome your entire family in one comfortable place. With freshly restored vintage furnishings, constructed-in bench and card table, open vistas to the pool deck, and more, this space is one-of-a-kind and ideal for sizable or modest gatherings. Rental property booking tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • In the Kitty Hawk area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Reserve your rental property in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Finding the best vacation home:

  • Select vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Private Beach Access in Southern Shores w\/ Pool has 8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to propel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
