Kitty Hawk vacation rental tips and tricks:
Sticking to your budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Many management companies supply Kitty Hawk area visitor guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Finding the best rental home:
- Start by having your family agree to a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. OBXLanai - 5 houses from Private Duck Beach + Private Pool at House! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the host before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. text the rental manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
