Tips to get the very best rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Book your Kitty Hawk rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Kitty Hawk visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Selecting the best rental in Kitty Hawk:
- Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Little \/ Ships Watch in Duck, NC has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
Have a great stay:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
