How to find the best Kitty Hawk vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Kitty Hawk. To find the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Kitty Hawk visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:

More considerations:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas during arrival. text the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective.
