Our top Rental property booking tips:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- In the Kitty Hawk area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- To find the best value, shift your family's Kitty Hawk vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Kitty Hawk visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Narrow your Search:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Cozy 2-bedroom sleeps 8 condo in oceanfront resort has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the host immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
