How to find the best Kitty Hawk vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- Summer is high season in Kitty Hawk. To get the largest vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Kitty Hawk restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Kitty Hawk area visitors guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the perfect rental in Kitty Hawk:
- Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Beautiful OBX Duck beach house ~ 5 min walk to beach or pool has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kitty Hawk vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
