Our top Kitty Hawk vacation rental booking tips:
When to reserve a Kitty Hawk rental home & When to go:
- Summer months are high season in the Kitty Hawk area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Kitty Hawk area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Choosing and booking your Kitty Hawk vacation home:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. New! Refreshed modern coastal retreat in Duck! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the host before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Tips to have a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Call the host right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of problems.
- Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
