How to book the best rental experience:
When to book a Kitty Hawk rental home & When to go:
- Booking your Kitty Hawk vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kitty Hawk area travel guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing the perfect rental in Kitty Hawk:
- To start, have your family select dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. New! Refreshed modern coastal retreat in Duck! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a specific Kitty Hawk attraction you crave, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many issues.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to compel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
