Strategies for getting the best rental home experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Reserve your Kitty Hawk rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kitty Hawk area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the perfect vacation home in the Kitty Hawk area:
- Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. New! Refreshed modern coastal retreat in Duck! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- If there's a specific Kitty Hawk attraction you crave, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- During arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to stimulate more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
