How to get the best Kitty Hawk vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Kitty Hawk area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking in Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kitty Hawk area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the perfect rental in the Kitty Hawk area:
- First, have your family decide on the best dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. OceanSound - 500 Feet to the Ocean in Duck, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kitty Hawk rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking websites. If not, contact the host before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is right for your vacation group.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
- Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
