Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Kitty Hawk vacation rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Kitty Hawk area. To book the best vacation home within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Kitty Hawk restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kitty Hawk area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and choose a perfect Kitty Hawk rental:
- Start by having your family decide on a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. OceanSound - 500 Feet to the Ocean in Duck, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Kitty Hawk vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
