Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Summer months are high season in Kitty Hawk. To get the best value, shift your family's Kitty Hawk vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kitty Hawk area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Finding the best vacation home in Kitty Hawk:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Nestled in live oaks trees, 3 min walk to sound, contemporary beachside cottage has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If there's an individual Kitty Hawk attraction you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
- Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
