How to find the best Kitty Hawk vacation home experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- Summertime is high season in Kitty Hawk. Reserve your Kitty Hawk rental home in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies supply Kitty Hawk area travel guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the best vacation home:
- Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Nestled in live oaks trees, 3 min walk to sound, contemporary beachside cottage has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
