How to find the best Kitty Hawk vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Kitty Hawk area. To get the best value, try changing your family's Kitty Hawk vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Kitty Hawk area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and choosing the rightrental:

- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- If there's a specific Kitty Hawk beach you simply love, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.

- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
