Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- To get the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Kitty Hawk visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. This Cozy Cottage by the Sea will steal your Heart and calm your Soul. has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your family.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your visit, record any problem areas during arrival. message the host right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
