The exterior of the home is being replaced in the fall as contractors now schedule a year out and we are replacing the deck this year as well. We will be placing the windows also. Our home is in a great location for getting to the beach and the town of Duck by walking. The ocean can get rough at times so beware of rip currents and keep a close eye on kids and family pets. You can also let your dogs off leash on the beach as long as they stay with you. There are sand burrs , mostly in the grass so beware with pets walking in the grass and tracking them into the home. Kitty Hawk vacation rental booking tips:
When to book & When to go:
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Kitty Hawk. To get the largest vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Kitty Hawk vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Kitty Hawk area travel guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Kitty Hawk visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your search:
- Begin by choosing your trip dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. This Cozy Cottage by the Sea will steal your Heart and calm your Soul. has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your group.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
